Changes in CDC Surveillance Did Not Cause the 2026 Cyclospora Outbreak
The changes at the NIH, CDC, and HHS more broadly are NOT the cause of the Cyclospora Outbreak. The monitoring programs and systems remained in place during this and all previous outbreaks exceeding 1,000. This specific outbreak is not due to changes at the CDC - its merely an outbreak that spread faster given its source and distribution compared to historical events.
