Enforcing Your Rights - The Local Accountability and Compliance Act
When the 89th legislature passed SB12 and SB13 to protect parental rights and to prohibit the exposure of children to sexually explicit material, among other protections, it did not come with sufficient teeth to enable parents to defend their rights and ensure ISDs and local governments implement the policies set by these laws. This bill gives citizens standing to hold government accountable.
TPTRP - The Surplus Waterfall and Dedicated Funds
The Texas Property Tax Replacement Plan (TPTRP) comes with a key citizen protection - this consists of a surplus waterfall where entities are required to save surplus funds into predefined funds designed to remove dependence on bonds, and al return unused taxes back to the citizens. Preventing government bloat and overspending with additional citizen protections.
